PAST EVENT: Workshop and Brunch with Cambridge Future Tech and James Zaki

Workshop and Brunch with Cambridge Future Tech and James Zaki

You are warmly invited to Weekly Brunches, a series of events held every Saturday. These events aim to provide students with guidance, connections, and support in bringing their ideas to life over the year. The events begin with a brunch, followed by two streams of (1) entrepreneurial and (2) technical workshops. The objective is to bring together students who have diverse backgrounds but share entrepreneurial ambitions, and to support the best projects with opportunities for publication, hackathons, incubation, or other forms of implementation.

Entrepreneurial stream

Xavier is COO of Cambridge Future Tech, a uniquely technology-first venture builder, working closely with top-tier universities for positive global impact. Xavier is an accomplished serial founder who has successfully raised over £5 million in investment for various innovative ventures. He has led several startups in the fields of AI, marketing, and HR technology. Xavier currently serves on the boards of multiple DeepTech ventures, including those in Robotics, Synthetic Biology, and Semiconductors. He holds a master's degree from the University of Cambridge. Xavier has been featured in The Guardian, USA Today, Tech Nation, and other publications. In 2017, he was recognised as one of CVC Capital Partners Young Innovators, and in 2016, he was named NACUE's National Entrepreneur of the Year.

Technical stream

James Zaki is an engineer and educator specialising in tech development, IoT, and Ethereum. With over 20 years of professional experience, he has spent the last 12 years focusing on software development (smart contracts), conducting technical workshops, managing products, and serving as a tech advisor, both locally and internationally. He also hosts Weekly Web3 Workshops in London, covering topics such as tech-talk, engineering and product development, providing entrepreneurs with an opportunity to enhance their skills in decentralised software.
