PAST EVENT: Frank Ramsey – The Brightest Star

Frank Ramsey (1903 – 1930) was appointed a Fellow of King’s at the age of 21. Before his death five years later, he made ground-breaking contributions to mathematics, economics and philosophy, earning the respect of Russell, Keynes and Wittgenstein, and laying the foundations for decision theory. His biographer Cheryl Misak discusses his life and thoughts, including his insights about the meaning of life.

Cheryl Misak, author of the widely acclaimed biography of Frank Ramsey, is Professor of Philosophy and a former Provost of the University of Toronto. She is an Honorary Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford, and has held visiting fellowships at All Souls College, the Goethe University in Frankfurt, the Free University in Berlin, and Trinity College and St John’s College, Cambridge. She is currently working on a book on Oxford linguistic philosophy.
