Why Start a Social Enterprise? A workshop with Taylor Kennedy

Taylor Kennedy is the Founder of Social Enterprise Sirene Chocolate, an award winning craft chocolate maker based in Canada. Taylor works with a variety of farms around the world, providing a stable and reliable source of income, above the market rate, and working with the farmers directly rather than buying off “the market”.

This workshop will discuss the history of Sirene Chocolate, what made Taylor want to set-up a social enterprise, alongside the challenges he’s faced, both in terms of his business but also in terms of the trade-offs of running a social enterprise. Taylor started this business after 18 years of working at the National Geographic Society, and so will discuss challenges and opportunities from starting a business later in life, in addition to balancing a business and family life.
